Here's a list of some of our favorite activities and dining options.

ACTVITIES

Take scenic walks from town. Try the Idarado or the Valley Floor. Both walks are relatively flat and packed with beautiful sights.
Hike from town. We love Bear Creek, Bridal Veil, and Jud Weibe.
Hike further afield. Venture to Deep Creek, Hope Lake, Kilpacker Trail, Coal Chutes Loop, or Lizard Head. A complete map of local trails can be found at this link.
Ride the gondola. The only free public transportation of its kind in North America!
Explore the area’s history with a visit to the ghost town at Alta Lakes, guided off-roading to Tomboy Village, or a stop at the Telluride Historical Museum.
Try your hand at fly fishing, stand-up paddle boarding, horseback riding, white water rafting, biking, or rock climbing.

REGIONAL ACTIVITIES

For those of you planning to pair the trip to Telluride with additional travel out west, here are some favorite destinations within easy driving distance.

Continue bopping around the San Juans. Ouray and Silverton are both worth a stop.
Visit Moab, home of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. The drive to Moab, through the striking Paradox Valley, takes about 2.5 hours.
Take in Mesa Verde. This beautiful national park with Pueblo cave dwellings is about 1.5 hours from Telluride.
Explore the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. This underrated national park is also 1.5 hours from Telluride!
